Soundproof Door Singapore

Pang Giap is a soundproof door supplier and contractor in Singapore with more than 30 years of experience. We supply and install double glazed soundproof doors in Singapore for HDB flats, condominiums, landed houses, offices, karaoke rooms, music rooms, hotels and other properties where noise reduction is important.

A soundproof door is specially built to reduce noise transmission and improve sound insulation. Our double glazed soundproof door systems use thick glass, airtight rubber seals and heavy duty door frames to reduce noise more effectively than ordinary doors.

Our soundproof doors are suitable for bedrooms, balconies, living rooms, offices, meeting rooms, music rooms and other spaces where better privacy and a quieter indoor environment are needed.

For rooms that require a complete noise reduction system, we also supply soundproof windows to complement our soundproof doors.

Soundproof Door vs Ordinary Door

Ordinary doors are mainly designed for privacy and security, but they do not provide strong sound insulation. Whereas soundproof doors are built using thicker materials, double glazed glass, a sealed air gap and airtight seals to block sound vibration more effectively.

Ordinary doors – thinner construction with limited sound insulation.
Soundproof doors – thicker construction with double glazed glass and airtight sealing.
Better noise reduction – more suitable for bedrooms, offices, studios and meeting rooms.

Why Our Soundproof Doors Are Effective

Our soundproof doors reduce noise by combining several sound insulation features into one complete door system.

1. Double glazed glass
We use 18-20mm thick double glazed glass made up of 2 layers of float glass. The extra thickness helps reduce sound vibration and improve noise insulation compared to ordinary glass doors

2. Sealed air gap between glass layers
Between the 2 layers of glass is a sealed air gap. This gap helps slow down the transfer of sound waves, making it harder for outside noise to pass through the door.

3. Heavy duty door framework filled with soundproof fiber wool
Our soundproof doors are supported by a heavy duty framework of about 3.5 inches thick. The frame is filled with soundproof fiber wool to reduce sound transfer through the door structure itself.

4. Airtight rubber seals on all 4 sides
We install thick rubber seals around all 4 sides of the door so that the door is more airtight when closed. This helps reduce noise leakage through gaps around the door.

Compared to ordinary glass doors, soundproof doors provide much better noise insulation and are more suitable for bedrooms, offices, studios and other spaces where privacy and quietness are important.

Our soundproof doors are mainly used to reduce daily residential noise in high-density living environments like HDB flats and condos. Our doors help reduce unwanted noise such as:

Traffic & Transport Noise - Car engine noise & motorcycle exhaust sounds, honking MRT train rumbling and vibration.
This is one of the most common noise problems for homes near roads or train tracks.

Construction & Renovation Noise - Drilling and hacking, hammering and impact noise.
Very common due to frequent renovations and nearby construction projects.

Household & Indoor Noise - TV or music from another room, loud conversations within the house.
Helps improve privacy inside homes and offices.

Coffee shop, playground and community - Noise from nearby shops or restaurants, children playing or sports such as pickleball.
Useful for units near busy commercial or sports areas.

Also in recent years due to the pandemic, increasing number of Singaporeans are working from home. Our soundproof bedroom doors and interior doors will block out the unwanted noise, creating quieter and more comfortable work environment so that you will be able to concentrate on your work better.

3. Music Rooms & Karaoke Rooms

Soundproof doors are used to contain loud sound within a room while also blocking unwanted noise from entering, making them especially important in environments where music and singing are involved.

In music rooms and karaoke rooms, sound levels can be very high due to singing, musical instruments, and speaker systems. Without proper soundproofing, this noise can easily leak out and disturb neighbours or other occupants. At the same time, external noise such as traffic, voices, or background activity can enter the room and affect the overall sound quality and experience.

By installing a soundproof door, the room becomes a more controlled acoustic environment—helping to keep loud sound contained inside, while maintaining a quieter and more isolated space for better enjoyment, practice, or performance.

Here are some of the noises our soundproof door system will reduce:

1. Singing & Vocal Noise - Loud singing and shouting, microphone amplification.
Prevents disturbing neighbours and people in nearby rooms.

2. Music & Instrument Noise - Noises from music & instruments.
Reduces strong, continuous sound from instruments.

3. Speaker & Sound System Noise - Loudspeaker output, karaoke system playback.
Our door system keeps loud audio contained within the room.

Soundproof Door vs Acoustic Door: What Is the Difference?

In Singapore, the terms soundproof door and acoustic door are often used interchangeably, but they can refer to slightly different things. A soundproof door generally refers to a door designed to reduce noise transmission and improve sound insulation, while an acoustic door may also refer to a door designed for sound control in more specialised environments such as studios, plant rooms or commercial buildings.

For residential and general commercial use, both terms usually refer to doors built with sound-reducing features such as thicker construction, airtight seals and insulated cores. Our double glazed soundproof door systems use these principles to help reduce outside noise and improve indoor acoustic comfort.

Soundproof door – commonly used term for noise reduction doors in homes, offices and general spaces.
Acoustic door – often used in technical or commercial settings for doors designed for sound control.

FAQ on Soundproof Door Installation

1. Are soundproof doors effective for reducing noise?

Yes. Our soundproof doors are designed to reduce unwanted noise by using double glazed glass, heavy duty frames, sound-absorbing fibers and airtight seals. These features help reduce sound vibration and significantly lower noise.

2. What type of noise can soundproof doors reduce?

Soundproof doors can reduce many types of noise such as traffic noise, MRT trains, construction sounds, loud neighbours, television sound and other everyday disturbances. While they cannot eliminate all sound completely, they can significantly reduce noise levels and make the environment much quieter.

3. Are soundproof doors made with double glazed glass?

Most soundproof doors use double glazed glass because it provides better sound insulation. Two layers of glass separated by an air gap help disrupt sound vibration and reduce noise transmission.

4. Do soundproof doors also help block dust and smoke?

Yes. Soundproof doors are usually installed with airtight seals around the door frame. These seals can help reduce dust, smoke, haze and other outdoor pollutants from entering the room.
